The end of civilization has arrived. A horrific plague has killed a majority of the people on Earth, leaving the remaining 2 billion or so lost in a world where society has crumbled and governments have fallen. Due to an unfortunately timed business trip, however, you’ve been stuck on the wrong side of America for the last month while the world came apart, and now it’s time to head home.
Your mission: to travel across 3,000 miles of the American unknown to get back to your friends, family and loved ones. You don’t know what you might encounter. Roving gangs, extremists hell-set on rebuilding humanity in their twisted image, people driven insane by the horrors they’ve seen - not to mention wild animals, bad weather, and who knows what else.
To help in your journey, you can bring ten items with you - not counting the clothes you wear and a backpack on your back. You have to be able to carry all of them at one time, without help from man, animal or machine. Remember, power will likely be spotty or nonexistent along the way, fossil fuel is hard to come by, and communications networks are in poor shape. Each individual item counts as one item if it’s sold as such in the United States today - a box of 50 bullets would count as one item, as would a packet of batteries.
What do you choose?
